Berlandier's Yellow Flax Linum berlandieri
Golden-yellow with striped orange and yellow center. Flower 1/2"-1" wide. Plant grows 6-8" tall.

A solid yellow variation of Berlandier's Yellow Flax
Golden-yellow flower about 3/4" wide. Plant about 4" tall. I have only seen this one plant.

Similar Species

Wyoming Flax Linum compactum
Large yellow flowers that are slightly darker at the center. Upright and woody, multiple unbranched stems (6" tall) of lance shaped leaves topped by several flowers.

Stiff-Stem Flax (Large-flower Yellow Flax) Linum rigidum
1"-1 1/2" wide flower, golden-yellow with orange center. Buds form above older flowers. Variation can be solid yellow or almost solid red. Tiny narrow leaves. Plant can be 8"-18" tall with one or a few flowers.

3/8"-1/2" wide flower can be solid yellow or have brick red centers. Petals have 2 round lobes. Narrow, closely appressed leaves, to 1/2" long. Stem can be 2"-11" tall. Erect.

Similar Species

Tufted Flax Linum imbricatum
Flower can be solid yellow or have brick red centers. Petal does not have lobe, can have slight point. Numerous stems from base make a mound of flowers. Short closely appressed leaves.

Yellow flower about 1/2" wide. Tips of bracts are maroon. Leaves are semi-appressed. Main stem has short, narrow leaves with dark glands at base.
