Pecans are cultivated with a very large variety of shell sizes and flavor. Trunks can grow several feet wide.

Specimen A
Tree shown is about 40 feet tall with a 2 1/2 foot wide trunk. The shell is 1/2" to 3/4" long,
incased in a tough outer "skin". This is the tiny variety that
everyone loves to eat but hates to shell.
