Flower 3/4"-1" wide. Plant is upright to about 12" tall. Thin leaves grow in rings up the stem.

Gregg's Tube-tongue Justicia pilosella (Siphonoglossa pilosella)
This plant's Genus name has changed from the one mentioned in most guide books.
Tube flower about 1/2" wide and 1/2" long. Flower can be rose or white.
Flower falls off easily when bumped. Upright to sprawling stems 6"-12" long.

Similar Species
American Water-willow Justicia americana
Lavender/pink/white flowers on spikes above leaves, 3 long petals with center with purple spots, top corolla purple to white. 4" long narrow leaves. Anthers are purple/red. Lives at water's edge. Grows
to 1 1/2 feet tall in dense clumps from creeping rhizomes.
