Streambed Bristlegrass (Plains Bristlegrass) Setaria leucopila
Very long and very narrow, dense spike, green seed and bristles. Narrow leaves, fold. Good cattle forage.
Hybridizes with S. macrostachya, S. scheelei, S. texana, and S. vulpiseta.

Reverchon's Bristlegrass Setaria reverchonii (Panicum reverchonii)
Very long and narrow inflorescence, 2 1/2"-8" long, looks like clumped dots on a stick. Terminal spikelet on axis and branches. The bristle is attached to the stem not to the spikelet but is appressed to the back of the spikelet.

Long-spike Bristlegrass Setaria macrostachya
Very long spike narrows at the top, when head is full it droops. Spikelets are densely clumped. Bristles are very long. Short-lived upright perennial bunchgrass grows to about 3 feet tall. Leaves up to 14" long and often folded. Likes well drained soil, drought & heat tolerant, tolerates shade, and is good for erosion control. Very good cattle forage and wildlife food.
Some references say this is the same as Setaria vulpiseta.
Hybridizes with S. leucopila, S. texana, S. scheelei, and S. vulpiseta.

Very open, long cone shape. Spikelets are clustered in rings, bristles are 1/2"-1 1/4" long. Shade tolerant.
Hybridizes with S. leucopila, S. texana, and S. vulpiseta. Good cattle forage.
