Bryozoans are very small, colonial animals. In mass, they combine to form mats, mounds, branches, fans, or lacy fronds. Tentacles surrounding their mouths grabbed microscopic organisms floating in the water. These animals differ from coral in that they lived in pits on the surface of the structure and not in radiating partitioned cups. |
