Sunfish
order Perciforms (perch-like) - family Centrarchidae (Sunfish)
White Crappie Pomoxis annularis
The White Crappie has 6 dorsal spines.
This fish is usually stocked for angling (fishing) but my father-in-law just thought they were pretty. It is prolific and can over populate small tanks. It eats small fish, which can reduce the population of other species.

Largemouth Bass (Green Bass) Micropterus salmoides
This fingerling is a baby bass swimming among Mosquitofish. They eat tiny fish and insects.
Adult fish are fast. They flip out of the water to catch top floating prey like Mosquitofish. We saw one hurl itself out of the water and end up on the bank. It managed to flip enough to get back into the water.
Adults fish can reach 3 feet long and live 20 years. They eat any animal smaller then themselves.
